Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport

Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (abbreviated as LJU), located in Brnik near Ljubljana, is the country’s main airport that regularly serves 20 European cities, including all major hubs.

The airport can be reached with a 20-30-minute ride. Participants can choose between a bus, a shuttle and a taxi to reach the city centre. The bus is the cheapest but not so frequent. The shuttle service GoOpti offers excellent service and good price if booked in advance. Guests staying at the workshop’s venue (the hotel Elephant) can use the hotel shuttle service or the hotel taxi service (28 EUR per direction). Guests staying at the Hotel City Ljubljana can use the hotel shuttle service (9 EUR per person per direction) or the hotel taxi service (30 EUR per direction).

Other airports

Another possibility is to fly to one of the airports just across the border (e.g. Trieste, Venice, Zagreb). Transport from these nearby airports is offered by several carriers, e.g. the shuttle service GoOpti.

bus  Public transport in Ljubljana:

Urbana is a payment card used on city buses operated by the Ljubljanski potniški promet (LPP). You have to buy the Urbana card (points of sale are available here) in advance of boarding the bus at the LPP Ticket Office, tourist information centres and at most of the city’s newspaper kiosks and post offices. It is also possible to buy it at the green Urbanomat ticket machines located across the city, mostly next to bus stops. The ticket machines accept both cash and credit and debit cards and do not return change.

A fee for a bus ride is 1,20 € and is valid for 90 minutes from the first entry to the bus and for unlimited number of transfers (for more information click here; map of the bus routes is available here).
